Phew, the last few weeks have been a whirlwind of busy. We are finally moved into our own home (as of last Tuesday) and it’s been chaotic ever sine, boxes everywhere, cleaning and plenty of DIY to be done, lots to purchase, and new areas to explore! Amidst all the stress, I’ve really been craving some quiet time, and relaxation to just shut off from all of it. That’s why this months issue of OM Yoga was a blessing, I find reading a good magazine, a great way to just shut off completely and unwind.
September is a special pregnancy issue, so although a lot of the articles weren’t really something I was interested in, I could see they would be great if you are expecting. There was still plenty of articles that I enjoyed, including one on using yoga to strengthen your core, which is something I am trying to work on right now while I make my way back to running pain free.
The ones that particularly hit home this month were the ones on meditation, something I’ve neglected of late, and something that in the current chaos I could really do with adding back in. I really enjoyed the article on using walking meditation. I do a lot of walking, and often listen to music, but I like the idea, of just being in the present moment, shifting your thought process during those times, releasing any negativity along with it, and using it as a way to open your mind to positivity, creativity and clarity. It’s not such an easy thing to do when living in such a busy city, but something I am keen to try out when walking somewhere a little more peaceful!
