As I told in a previous post, I took part in the Summer Retreat of the , and that’s where I filmed this video, with permission from the Bishop, as I was meditating on placed on the altar in . I added music, which is Divine Mercy Final; The Angels Decade by Clare du Bois. Video lasts for 5 minutes. This is my very first attempt to do anything like this, but I’m satisfied with a result. It’s simple. It’s beautiful. It’s enough. What do you think?
All this lovely music for is freely downloadable on the , along with this beautiful image combining the Divine Mercy (rays of light) with the .
I like both the symplicity and the depth of the Chaplet. I like the symbolism of both the Divine Mercy image and the Sacred Heart image. I’m fascinated by the fact how they all relate to the Mystery of the Eucharist, which I love!
In other words… I love Jesus Christ who first loved me, so that He freely gives Himself to me completely, as well as to everyone else, even if I can only give so little of myself in return.
I’m not Catholic in any particular sense – I’m Catholic in a true sense of a word; Universal! My Church, , even though offering the and believing in the in the Eucharist, does not practice outside of its Mass. That doesn’t prevent me from walking my own spiritual path, including this tradition. In fact, I have a home altar, and the center of my altar or the Heart of my altar – and my devotion – is the Consecrated Host!
This is not usually possible for neither Roman Catholics, Liberal Catholics, or the members of the Christian Community. At least for the laity, I mean. However, there is online service called by the in Britain (very open and welcoming). They actually send you Communion (also wine if you ask) through mail to anywhere in the world! They only ask for voluntary donations for postal costs, but even that is not mandatory if you’re unable to pay!
Yes indeed, it may raise many kind of thoughts and concerns, and is not met without controversy. But I won’t deal with that here. I am just grateful I had this opportunity meaning the world to me! There may be many reasons why people can’t or won’t go to Church to have Communion. I see this service as an offering of Love. That’s what Communion is all about anyway.
Of course not all people believe it’s more than a symbol, or that specially ordained person is needed to mediate this Grace through solemn ceremony. Even I am not all that convinced; I greatly respect sacramental priesthood, but I also believe in the priesthood of all believers. I am priest at my home, even leading rituals every now and then. When I have my daily prayers before my home altar, that is the Spritual Communion to me, it is keeping up the influence of Sacramental Communion received on Sunday, throughout the following week. It is told of that, “She had begun to question whether her spiritual Communions had any real value compared to sacramental Communion. Suddenly she saw Christ holding two chalices. ‘In this golden chalice I put your sacramental communions. In this silver chalice I put your spiritual communions. Both chalices are quite pleasing to me.’” Lovely symbolism!
Considering even further, there is only a small step to the point, where you may actually bless a piece of bread and a cup of wine by yourself, everyday if you wish. And then again, you might think if that is even necessary, or is your Communion the purely spiritual nourishment you may receive from above?
The Lord’s Prayer refers to Bread in its midmost petition, and the original, more accurate form of this particular phrase does not talk about daily bread but supersubstantial bread, as the old correctly translates – in Greek. This is the Mystical Communion – it is the presence of the Living Christ Himself!
