As mentioned, there are MANY effects of meditation. Meditation tips for beginners I recommend that you incorporate as many of the tips as possible. These tips are geared toward beginners and those having meditation blocks. Meditate in the dark - Do you or most people sleep with the lights off? There is a reason for this. Darkness help shuts down the conscious or active thoughts. Practice / Repeat - Meditation is a practice. Practice is something you do more than once. Make a routine or ritualof mediation where you do it regularly. Once a day for at least 15-20 minutes is a good start. Try our to begin a solid meditation practice. Keep back/spine straight - Regardless if you are sitting or laying down, keep your back as straight as possible. The major chakras are aligned on the spine. When straight, you are allowing your energy to move more freely. Play binaural beats or meditation sounds - There are many Youtube videos and meditation mp3s (binaural beats, isochronic tones, solfeggio frequencies, nature sounds etc.). You do not want to worry about your physical shell when you are going into your mind! If you are laying down, place a pillow under your head and/or feet. Just make sure your body is relaxed and loose. Visualize or daydream - If you are not comfortable with the word meditation, look at it as visualizing or daydreaming. This is something we do all the time. Try visualizing about something that will help you. Have fun and keep the images as positive as possible. Meditate in the same place and/or time -Whenever you do something at the same time and place, you build a conscious trigger. For example, most people shower in the morning around the same time. Also, you would not get in the shower and do your dishes. Your mind knows that the shower means cleaning the body. Take slow and deep breaths - Slowing down your breathing is an easy way to tap into the zone. Inhale deeply through the nostrils and fill up the abdomen.
