One of the most difficult things for us to wrap our minds around is a universal creator with limitless love and acceptance.
Ignore today in your meditations the words that have been spoken to you on behalf of this universal creator, and think only on the love that knows no limits.
Forget for this time of silence and contemplation the actions that have been done “in the name of” the same creator, and linger on the thought that no matter what, we are loved.
It is impossible for us – short of becoming an enlightened master – to practice the same kind of love ourselves. I catch myself pushing against my outer edges of what I can accept and what I can welcome. I push hard each day that I can to move that border a little farther away from my center.
Some days I hide inside my humanity and my “me of little faith” closet, I cry, and I hope that all the external darkness will go away because – just for today – I cannot (correct that: will not) love these awful people and their awful actions.
Tomorrow the sun rises, we get up, we try again.
Think for a moment in your silence today on that barrier and where it is for you. How far does your love reach into the world? How close (or how far away) are you to/from that universal, never-ending shalom?
Keep the faith! – Amen
