We hold a variety of workshops at the Studio–inversions, specialty yoga practices, sound healings, and more. Typically we hold two workshops a month so please check back for updates regularly. to reserve your spots!
Prenatal Pilates Workshop Saturday, April 2nd 2:00-3:30pm The Pilates Method is one of the safest and most effective forms of exercise for expecting mothers. Join Kiersten Kennedy Saturday, April 2nd for an intimate look at how Pilates can have a positive affect on the female mind and body during the special journey of pregnancy. We will explore how to access, activate, and release the pelvic floor to prepare for labor and assist in postnatal recovery. Participants will also learn specific breathing techniques to access the deeper abdominal muscles, as well as how to strengthen the upper body safely to support the added frontal weight from your belly and breasts and in preparation for lifting, carrying and feeding your newborn. Finally we will work on strengthening the lower body to help stabilize your hips as the ligaments stretch due to increased hormone production. This workshop will be informative, gentle, and challenging! Please bring a stability/birthing ball with your to class,we do have a few extra in you do not have one. Family Yoga Classes – Warm & Cool Options Sunday, April 3rd 1:00pm Traditional Family Yoga Class: A fun, Beginner Yoga practice for families to do together! A healthy activity for children and adults to connect and play in a safe environment using stories and songs to introduce yoga and relaxation techniques to use on and off the mat. Children (generally 4 years old and up) must be accompanied by an adult. No prior yoga experience necessary. Warm Family Yoga Class: A fun, Beginner Yoga practice for families to do together in our hot studio! A healthy activity for children and adults to connect and play in a warm (75-80 degrees) environment using stories and songs to introduce yoga and relaxation techniques to use on and off the mat. Bring a beach towel and water so we can sweat together! Children (generally 7 years old and up) must be accompanied by an adult. No prior yoga experience necessary. Sunday, April 10th (rain date Sunday, April 17th) 5:00pm Yoga at Hurkamp Park followed by a specially crafted Cocktail at Kybecca Meet at Hurkamp Park for a Beginner~Intermediate all levels yoga class after which we will walk a block to Kybecca and enjoy a signature Cocktail as a reward for a practice well done! Cost $20 per participant – Sign up online to reserve your Yoga spot and your Cocktail Art Workshops for Kids and Adults Saturday, April 23rd 1:00 – 2:00pm Kids Art Experiences is a unique way of teaching art technique to children. We work with all types of paint, watercolors, scrapbook paper and random items we use in our day to day lives. This program is created by a Montessori trained teacher who modifies/amplifies the lesson based on skill level. Opento children ages 5-12, parent supervision is not required during the workshop hour. Cost $20 per child~pre-register each person . 3:00 – 5:00pm Adults This workshop is an opportunity for adults to play in paint in a nonthreatening way. Robin guides you step by step through the process of creating a canvas that you will be proud to give as a gift or display in your home. She offers suggestions for more experienced painters to add more dimension to their canvas as well. This workshop is a good way to make memories with some friends or try something that you have been thinking about trying in 2016. Cost $40 per person~pre-register each person . Robin Norgren, , is an Expressive Arts Counselor and Creativity Facilitator. She received her coaching certification through Southwest Institute of Healing Arts and holds a B.S.from Arizona State University and a Masters Degree in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary. She will complete her AMI Montessori Primary training in 2016. Robincreated Josey’s Art School because she truly believes that art is a vital component in our lives, promoting peace, joy and a sense of connectedness to ourselves and with each other. Her work builds a foundation that helps children and adults develop coping skills for stress and anxiety which they will draw from time and again throughout their lifetimes. In a nutshell, we create JOY.
