For those who struggle with depression and/or anxiety, or love someone who struggles, there is new hope in an ancient practice–Yoga Nidra. Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation practice and new by the University of North Texas Health Science Center shows that it improves symptoms associated with depression and anxiety in psychiatric patients..
I personally practice and teach this deeply relaxing and nourishing form of meditation to my clients and yoga students and have seen amazing results in my life and the lives of others. So I know it works!
It’s just so refreshing that Yoga and meditation — ancient healing practices — are gaining recognition as an antidote to the stress of modern life. When you practice Yoga Nidra, you experience a timeless state of Being — pure Being — so this makes sense on an intuitive level. But now we have the research to back it up!
The research on (the modern day protocol developed by Richard Miller, PhD.) has been ongoing over the last decade. It has particularly been of interest to the U.S. Military and Dept. of Veteran’s Affairs because of its positive outcomes with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as well as Chronic Pain in our Veterans.
While healing our world of the trauma of war seems too big a job for me, this practice gives me hope for our Veterans and for anyone who has suffered with PTSD, depression, and/or anxiety.
As a certified Yoga Teacher and trained Yoga Nidra iRest teacher, I welcome your inquiries about this profound practice. Please call or message me through my website if you are interested.
