Bringing our compassionate nature to the surface will therefore have huge benefits for our daily life and a positive impact on everyone around us. An empowerment is a traditional Buddhist ceremony which consists of teachings and guided meditations. Receiving an empowerment helps us to connect with a particular aspect of Buddha’s mind — in this case, compassion — and improves our meditation practice. Following the empowerment itself, students traditionally receive a commentary in which they learn more about the meditations and practices associated with that particular Buddha. About the Teacher The empowerment, teachings, and meditation over the course of the weekend will be given by Gen Kelsang Nyema, an American Buddhist nun and Vajrayogini Buddhist Center’s Resident Teacher.
