This weekend Świdnicka street will become the scene of numerous cultural, artistic, sporting and fashion events, plus workshops, competitions and entrepreneurial meetings. It's all due to the second edition of the Świdnicka Street Festival, which kicks off this Saturday at 12 noon. The aim of the festival is to promote the sustainable development of Świdnicka Street, in terms of its daily life, business activity and cultural profile. The festival will have 6 different zones that embody a different theme. The first such area is the 'Berlin Meets Wroclove Zone', which, according to the organisers, will be "characterized by the unconventional combination of art, music, fashion and culture of the two cities of Wroclaw and Berlin". Attractions in this zone include vegetarian food, two DJ sets, live music, sculpting, fashion shows and art exhibitions. Another of the 6 areas is the Fashion and Design Zone, where a showroom will be constructed to showcase some of the best works ofPolish artists and fashion designers. Music is covered at the festival too of course, with the Music Zone featuring live performances of both classical music and modern experimental music, as well as live sets from Polish and German DJs. Meanwhile, those looking for a bit of calm can relax at the Chillout Zone, where refreshments like ice cream, coffee and tea will be available – almost of all of which are provided by local independent stores such as Polish Lody, Nalanda, Etno Cafe and Dobra Karma. The more actively minded will be catered for at the Sports Zone, where it is possible to take part in a hockey tournament, fitness trials and other sporting competitions. The Śląsk Wrocław basketball players will also pay a visit to give tips and sign autographs. Last but not least is the festival's more family oriented area, dubbed the 'Secret Garden Zone'.
