In an effort to spread the good vibes of yoga to all, here is a summary of my favourite channels for yoga on YouTube.
Practicing yoga on your own can be hard at times. It can be challenging to find the motivation or inspiration that you feel when you participate with a group and teacher at a studio or gym.
I am often travelling or working out from home, so I rely heavily on YouTube as a resource for my personal yoga. There is so much great (and free!) content out there and many passionate yogis that graciously post awesome classes, tutorials, challenges etc., several of which have an active yogi community as well, which is why I love them so much!
I thought it would be helpful to share my favourite channels on YouTube for Yoga for others who are in a similar situation as myself, or just want to mix things up a bit.
In no particular order, I rotate between these six channels weekly and subscribe to them all.
Yoga by Candace is a great resource for teachers and students alike. She has an active and posts videos on her youtube channel quite often. On her blog you can find a very active yoga forum community, where you can post questions and find answers to all yoga related things. All of her videos are free and she sets up some fun themed challenges as well. Her videos range in length from short 15 minute sequences to full 60 minutes flow classes. Lots of choose from on her channel, you can’t really go wrong.
I know I said I didn’t really have any top favourites per se, but truthfully, Yoga with Adriene is definitely one of my favs. I really love her easy going, carefree, loving life attitude, which shines through in all of her videos. This is a super great channel to subscribe to if you are new to yoga. She has tons of great videos that break down single poses, focusing on correct alignment and breath, which is so key. Adriene offers a variety of classes such as, total body flow, yoga for core strength, good digestion, beginners and 30 day challenges. She has lots of fun with yoga and does not take herself too seriously, which I admire a lot.
I am a somewhat new subscriber to Sarah Beth’s YouTube channel, but from what I have experienced, I am really liking it thus far. Her videos are well sequenced, focus well on breath and movement, give good cues for alignment and use Sanskrit and English for postures. Sarah gives good modifications and variations for postures and offers several challenging flow classes if you want to get a good sweat on. I have tried a few of her “Beach Bod” power yoga videos and they were lots of fun. Her videos are well categorized and you can find ones geared towards flexibility, inversions, detox, days of the week etc.
I am also new to Yoga with Tim, but I love it. He posts new videos weekly and offers several awesome flows that are great for building overall strength. He is passionate about what he teaches and approaches his classes in an easy going way, but you can definitely tell that he is very knowledgable. I appreciate his use of Sanskrit and his very helpful alignment cues. He offers videos on breathing and meditation, morning flows, total body strength and more.
Lesley Fightmaster dedicates her channel to making yoga accessible for all people. Her video library is extensive and she offers a great range. I have enjoyed several of her longer flow classes and shorter “quickie” classes as well. Lesley also has a great 90 day yoga challenge on her channel, designed to create a healthy habit of yoga in your life.
Kino is quite the inspirational women. I love her passion for yoga, which oozes from her in all her videos. She offers great tips on how to have a consistent yoga practice and how to incorporate yoga into all aspects of your life. Her channel offers a range of classes for beginners, as well as challenging classes geared towards advanced students. She is excellent at teaching postures step by step so you can fully understand how to be successful in more challenging postures, in a safe way. She is very fun loving and truly loves to share her passion for yoga with others.
I hope you enjoy these channels as much as I do!
Are there any channels I am missing? Do you have a favourite that’s not on my list? I love exploring new ones.
