Why not try exercising body and mind through stretching and relaxing? It can be a helpful preparation for sitting meditation and assist with stress management.
We have been offering Yoga classes since 1997 whilst Mindful Movement is a popular recent addition to our programme. We offer excellent teaching in the peaceful atmosphere of our shrine room. We provide mats, blocks and belts so all you need to bring is loose clothing for stretching in. Our maximum class size is 16. Come along to see for yourself !

Details and charges: We hold the following drop-in Yoga & Mindful Movement classes which are suitable for those new to yoga & movement, and for those with experience. The cost for each class is £9 (£7 concession i.e. full time students and those on state benefits) £10/£8 from Mar 23. We sell cards for 6 classes at £50/£40. No advance booking required – just drop-in. Please arrive 5 -10 minutes before the start of the class.
Mondays 5.45 – 7.15pm with Lizzie Biggin. No classes on Bank Holidays Intermediate Iyengar: Lizzie is an experienced Iyengar yoga teacher (she holds the intermediate level 3 certificate). This class is suitable for those with at least three years recent experience of iyengar yoga and who are able to do and hold Sarvangasana (shoulder stand) and Sirasana. The class works to deepen knowledge and awareness, helping to expand and widen the student’s experience and practice of the subject.
Tuesdays 10.30am – 12.00pm with Cathi Wilson No class Tues 29 Mar All level Iyengar including beginners: Cathi has been teaching Iyengar Yoga since 1998. She focuses particularly on correct body alignment and uses blocks & belts to help students into postures. Students should be physically fit and if in any doubt about their suitability, seek advice before the class from Cathi.
Wednesdays 5.30 – 7.00pm with Tim Mason NEW Course Format – Mindfulness and Movement – Bringing the Body to mind 6 sessions for those with some experience of any one of the Shibashi Tai Chi/Qi Gong forms – (forms 1, 2 or 3). This course will encourage experimentation and playfulness, support the creation of your own Qi Gong as well as consolidating what you already know (£42 for full 6 session course including video, audio and other teaching material). Thursdays 10.30am – 12.00pm with John Irving. All level ‘Vini’ Yoga’ including beginners: After attending classes at the Triratna Centre in Edinburgh 15 years ago, John trained with Yoga Scotland, then followed the teachings of TKV Desikachar and his father, TK Krishnamacharya, known as the grandfather of yoga in the West. This offers yoga to suit individual needs. Postures are integrated with movement and breath; developing ‘mindfulness’, a ‘space’ for you in your day, and physical & mental well-being as a support to life.
