On the second Sunday of each month from 10:15am-10:45am all are welcome to gather in the prayer room for guided meditation. Guided meditation, led by Angelina Duell, is an opportunity for quiet reflection on the Scriptures through the practices of breathing and intentional use of the imagination. Seated in the peaceful prayer room you will close your eyes and focus on your breathing while you are led through a series of images designed to invite you into closer relationship with God and others.Guided meditation has no age minimum to join. The meditations are open to anyone who is able to sit still and quietly for 15-20 minutes at a time.
Sit in a quiet place where you feel peaceful. When you press play you will first hear the Scripture reading. When the reading is completed, you will be given further instructions on how to sit comfortably and how to breathe during the meditation. You will then be invited to image a series of guided images throughout the meditation. At the end you will be invited to leave the images and open your eyes.
Meditation on Psalm 104
In October we meditated on Psalm 104 and were invited to see God’s presence in nature.
Meditation of Psalm 139
In November we reflected on Psalm 139 and spoke to the saints in our lives.
Meditation on the Magnificat
In December we contemplated the Magnificat (Mary’s Song of Praise found in the Gospel of Luke) and envisioned approaching the nativity.
Meditation on the Baptism of Jesus
In January we meditated on the baptism of Jesus, envisioning ourselves being baptized in the Jordan River.
On February 14 and March 13 Guided Meditation will be led by Rev. Bonnie Chandler-Warren who will be leading the group in Lectio Divina. There will be no recordings but resources will be posted on this page on how to do Lectio Divina at home.
Continue to breathe deeply and take some time to reflect on the experience. You may reflect silently to yourself, or perhaps record your thoughts in a journal or share them with a friend or loved one. The hope of these meditations is that you will grow in awareness of the presence of God in your life and in the world.
