Group Sharing Events

Making a donation to TBT is a perfect way to honor a joyous occasion, like a birthday, anniversary, wedding/engagement, new home, job change, retirement or anything else you can imagine.   It is also appropriate to honor someone who has passed away with a donation in his/her memory at the time of the passing or on the yahrtzeit (anniversary) of the passing.

All donations to Temple Beth Torah are tax deductible.  You can choose where you would like your donation to be applied.

Consider donating appreciated stock and avoid capital gains tax. 

General Fund

Any donation that is not specified to another specific fund goes to the General Fund.  This helps maintain the operating budget of the temple.  Building expenses, insurance, staff salaries and all program expenses that are not underwritten come out of the General Fund, as well as support for the Religious School.

Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund

This separate tzedakah fund enables the rabbi to make confidential contributions to help individuals and causes that may be in crisis.  The rabbi may also use this fund to help support unbudgeted programs that will benefit the temple or community.

Burt Levy Memorial Library Fund

The Tom Theriot Memorial Program Fund was established by Castine Theriot to memorialize her husband, Tom.  Her intent was to help TBT with new, dynamic programs that were not part of the normal program budget.  Additionally, the fund can be used to subsidize programming that may be part of the budget, but that additional funds could enhance the program.  Because Tom loved the music he heard at TBT, musical programs are very appropriate for this fund; at the same time, it was not meant to be exclusively music, so if a non-musical program needed funding, this program fund can help.

It continues to be maintained by an annual contribution from Castine of $2000, which she donates voluntarily on Tom’s yahtzeit in September.
