We meet every Thursday at 7:00 PM for meditation, including Zen-style sitting (Zazen), walking meditation, chanting, and discussion. Periodically we offer an introduction to Zen meditation. Beginners are welcome and are asked to come 15 minutes early for brief instruction and explanation of our service.
Our Thursday meetings go something like this:
- 6:45 PM — First-time visitor orientation and set-up
- 7:00 PM— Zazen (sitting meditation) – 20 minutes
- 7:20 pm - some (walking meditation) - Minutes X.
- 7:30 PM — Zazen (sitting meditation) – 20 minutes
- The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
- Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
- Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
- A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
- The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;
- The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all; and
- Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.
