‘Roots of wisdom’ yoga is the discovery of joy through a blend of yoga, meditation and vedanta. This holistic approach combines both the physical (san-yoga) and mental (vi-yoga) practices of yoga, and yields health benefits that reflect this connectedness of the body and mind, helping to alleviate anxiety, depression, and related illnesses.
These two practices were originally intertwined into one discipline. But the process of translating and migrating the ancient yogi practices out of India has resulted in a relatively large emphasis being placed on the physical practice of yoga, and a relative neglect of the mental and spiritual aspects.
Julia Lorimer has recently completed 10 years of traditional study in India with reknowned teacher Swami Dayananda. Her studies include his full teachings of Vedanta on the vision encoded on palm leaves in 800 a.d. in original sanskrit – teachings that are the basis of yoga, ayurveda, vedic astrolgoy (jyotish), and which culminate in the vision of oneness that shankara codified. Original principles of yoga are to you now in pristine form as they were for 1ooo’s of years.
