The benefits of Guided Meditaton are numerous. I have placed this explanation and meditation practice here as I have personally found it to be powerful and effective.
Prior to beginning this meditation practice, you should clear your mind and set time for relaxation before you begin. Take five minues to relax yourself from head to toe, either by playing a soothing piece of music or by listening to a relaxation piece. When I do this, it is done live with a music background.
This meditation can be repeated over and over. One session is 30 minutes long. You can, however, extend this practice for one, two, three, even four hours with or without short breaks.
I like to follow this meditation with the Meditation of Purity. However you do not have to do this. You can skip this if you choose, and go to the Closing Steps which I have included at the end.
It is found here:
Following this meditation practice we do “Closing Steps”
Those are 1/3 the meditation practice and VERY important to do in order to properly complete it.
Those steps are included here:
Greater Illumination Meditation’s Closing Steps
1. Rub your hands together until they are warm. Glide your hands over your face just above the skin, without actually touching it, from chin to forehead 6-8 Times. Let the energy from your hands enter your skin. Visualize a beautiful flower. You are becoming more a more bright and youthful self. Your true face is being uncovered.
2. Rub your hands together again, until they are warm. Comb your fingers through your hair 6-8 times. Feel your worries and negative thoughts are sliding away as you become more rational and clear minded.
3. Rub your hands together until they are warm. Cup your hands over your eyes. Feel the energy from your hands is radiating into your eyes. They are fresh, like a placid lake. Use your finger tip from your fore finger and middle finger to gently push along your upper eyelids, from the inner corners of the eyes to the outer corners. Feel the fatigue and diseases expelled from your body. Repeat this 6-8 times. Next put your thumbs on the temples and use the sides of your fore fingers to press the eyebrows and the lower orbital ridge. Repeat six times.
4. Rub your hands together until they are warm. Use fingertips to press the points along the sides of the nose, from the eyes to the base of the nose. Repeat 6-8 times. Then rub the sides of the nose with the fingertips for 6-8 times. Feel, you are breathing freely. 5. Open your mouth as wide as possible and stay that way for 3 seconds. Repeat this 3 times. This helps with jaw problems.
6. Rub your hands until they are warm. Use your thumbs and forefingers to pinch along your ears from the tops to the bottom ear lobe. Wherever you feel uncomfortable, press more firmly to release the negative energy. Then gently pull your ears away from your head for 6-8 times. And then gently pull down for 6-8 times.
7. Rub your hands together until they are warm. Use your left hand to rub the back of the neck until it is warm. Rub your hands together until they are warm. Repeat that process with your right hand. Rubbing the neck helps release muscle tension in the neck and shoulders.
8. Now pat the entire body gently and freely from head to toe. Start form the head. While you are patting, visualize the dust of disease and fatigue drift away from you, like smoke into the air. Feel the energy entering your body and restoring your health. Next, the shoulders and chest. Then under the arms and down the sides of your body. Then the abdomen and hips next. Then front sides of your thighs, knees, ankles and insteps of your feet. Then lower back, buttocks, the back sides of thighs, calves, ankles and heels. Then the arms. Down the top side, lower side, back side and front side with tapping going from the top of shoulder to fingertips, left and right arms. As you do this tapping exercise, visualize and keep thinking that the dust of disease and fatigue are drifting from you, like smoke or dust into the air. Feel the energy entering your body, and restoring your health.
9. Massage your entire body gently from head to toe. Keep visualizing.
10. Massage your hands over your body from head to toe, keep up the visualization as above.
11. Palms together and give thanks.
