In Ayurveda Weekend 1, we learned about constitutions, and how the body takes in nourishment. In Ayurveda Weekend 2 the focus shifts to how that nourishment turns into the tissues of the physical body (dhatus), and the qualities of the energetic body (ojas, tejas, and prana). We’ll also explore the subdoshas of Pitta and Kapha. You probably knew Vata has the 5 Vayus, but did you know there are 5 Pittas, and 5 Kaphas too?! To make this really applicable, you’ll also learn bandhas and pranayama to use with asana for each constitution.
These are advanced workshops, recommended for yoga teachers and serious students. There are only 4 spots available, so please sign up as soon as practical. Questions? Email kaitlin@beyogaclt.com

5Elements Flow Yoga is a model of five creative, dynamic vinyasa flow practices within the Kunga Yoga School developed by Kristin Cooper and inspired by the teachings of Ayurveda. 5Elements Flow is based on the “panchamahabhutus”; or the five great elements of nature, and is for students of all levels. This practice teaches a deeper understanding of the elements through unique namaskars and posture sequencing, and offers the practitioner a toolbox of five flow practices which correlate with changing seasons and life cycles. This pallette of creative practices-from deeply grounding to highly energizing-creates a foundation for sustaining a lifelong yoga practice.
In this workshop, we will explore each element with a short discussion and overview, and a fully integrated 75 – 90 min practice.
Friday: 7p-9p Earth Flow. The emphasis within the 5Elements Earth Flow yoga class is on grounding, creating stability, and building strength. This is cultivated through a series of hip opening salutations and standing and supine hip-opening postures. All levels are welcome, as we move through a slow, but very strong and deep vinyasa practice; completing with a restorative savasana and longer period of meditation. This is practiced in a warm (85 degree) room.
Saturday: 2p-4p Fire Flow. 5Elements Fire Flow is a powerful, motivating vinyasa hot yoga class emphasizing strength and purification. Fire represents metabolism, heat, and the practice of “tapas” or discipline. The emphasis of 5Elements Fire Flow is on building heat, and strength through a series of challenging salutations, standing postures, core work and arm balancing. This practice is rapid, expansive and strong, and closes with a lengthy relaxation to balance the strong effort. 5Elements Fire Flow is a challenging practice and is practiced in a warm (85 degree) room.
Saturday: 7-9pm Water Flow. 5Elements Water Flow is a nurturing, rejuvenating yoga class incorporating fluid vinyasa, tai chi and circular wave motion throughout the body with a focus on soft pacing and instruction. This is a nourishing, slow-flow yoga class with the intent to cultivate inner balance from depletion, stress, and over-stimulation. The fluid movements of this practice lubricate All Levels of the joints in the body and support increased spinal mobility, range of motion, and balance. 5Elements Water Flow is a full body vinyasa practice with an emphasis on shoulder opening and the six movements of the spine. All levels are welcome, and practiced in a moderate temperature (75 degrees).
Sunday: 10 – 12am Air Flow. 5Elements Air Flow is a rapid, uplifting and playful class which emphasizes strong yet soft fluid movement. Air represents freedom mobility and creativity. Sunday: 2pm – 4pm Ether (Space) Flow. 5Elements Ether/Space Flow is a completely open, self-guided practice. The intention is to create space in the mind, body and physical room for the individual to connect with the music and the feelings within. It is recommended that one has experienced practice in the other 4 elements, but a short discussion and explanation will be provided at the start.
