Meditation Eases Anxiety? Brain Scans Show Us How | Psych Central News
by · June 9, 2013
. This is a really interesting report for anyone interested in science, the neurological pathways in the brain and all of that sciencey stuff (and meditation!) After 20 mins of meditation, participants in a study reported lowered levels of anxiety. Researchers were also (don’t ask me how) able to determine which parts of the brain were affected by meditation. During meditation, there was more activity in an area of the brain that is known to control worrying. Interesting stuff! This is great research and it is now becoming well known that meditation eases anxiety and has a host of wonderful benefits for our mental (and thus also physical) health!
