This is a quick lesson in meditation, which will hopefully answer questions for most beginners.
I’m glad you’ve decided to give meditation a try. It certainly has helped me become a different person and I know that it will do the same for you. In fact, let’s get down to business and talk a little about the benefits – why are we here? Why are we trying meditation?
1 – Positive, Physical Brain Change
This benefit attracts a lot of people. You can actually change your brain with meditation. Not only does it provide a host of emotional and mental benefits, these aren’t fleeting – they’ll stick around because meditation actually changes your brain. You’ll stay the way you become in meditation – all those great benefits will be yours forever.
You may also notice improved creativity and concentration, and increased attention span.
2 – You get a handle on your thoughts and emotions
Through meditation, you’ll realize that your thoughts and emotions are:
Fleeting – they don’t last. Just like everything else, thoughts and emotions come and go – and the healthiest way is to see them exactly as they are – fleeting, and oftentimes, not as important or terrifying as you thought. We spend a lot of our time in thought – most of that thought is repetitive. Meditation trains you to see that for what it is, and get control of your thoughts, and therefore, your emotions.
3 – You’ll be more calm
How could you not be, once you’ve realized through direct experience that your thoughts and emotions are under your control, and once you’ve decided not to let them control you? You’ll be the most chill person on your block.
4 – Health Benefits
There are scientifically documented and well-studied benefits, ranging from blood pressure (lower) to general heart benefits, and more.
It can help you sleep better.
Increased energy
Less sore muscles
5 – You’ll feel more connected to others
Some meditation practices are designed with this more in mind than others – yet they all provide this benefit, in varying degrees. You’ll start to see that most of the folks you come across in life are just like you, regardless of their age, race, social status, or how much money they have. It’s a great improvement for your social life.
6 – Increased Happiness
You’ll also note that you’re just plain happier.
7 – Better intuition
You’ll have better “gut instinct” and you’ll know when to rely on it, and when it’s just your mind playing tricks on you.
The lists go on and on – I found a sense of peace, clarity and stability within a few weeks of my meditation practice starting – and you will too. So come on inside, join up as a member so you can discuss with other members, and see what meditation can do for you!
