Meditation really is for everyone, in one form or another. An easy way to begin a new meditation practice is to try guided meditation first. It’s much easier to still your mind when you’re listening to something other than your own thoughts!
I have included a couple of short, guided meditations to get you started….see how you like it before I give you anything long.

Beta Waves is the term used to designate the frequency range of human brain activity when fully alert and awake. Notice the Beta Wave activity in the brain before meditation, shown in the left portion of the image, below.
Note how they are dramatically reduced in the image to the right, the meditating brain.
A lasting effect of regular meditation is improved focus. We call Mediation a ‘Practice,’ because when you do it on a regular basis, the effects last well into the time when you are not meditating, as well.
This is valuable when, for instance you are coming to terms with a cancer diagnosis and you need to stay open to possible help and treatment. Rather than cloud your mind with negative thoughts, rendering subsequent actions ineffective, we need tools like meditation to help us be decisive and proactive in our own healing.
Even though, it is a very emotional time, it is also a time where we need to focus our attention and move forward with a plan. I hope you can see, in this simplistic example, just how much meditation can help. Plus, it just feels good.
Back to where we started on this journey, on the page, in particular, we discussed small ways in which we do what we can do. We’re not taking on the world here just a small change that can and will have a tremendous, positive result in your life.

Meditation feels so good because it relieves the continual stresses of the day. As well, it trains us not to get so stressed in the first place no matter what’s going on in our life.
It’s simple and easy and there are loads of resources out there for you:
Technique: As well, you can simply sit or lay down, close your eyes and focus only on your breath for 5 minutes. When your mind wanders, just bring it back to your breath and rest. Go for 5 minutes more each day or week until you enjoy a meditation practice of up to 30 minutes at a time.
