“First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being reported all over the world” (Romans 1.8 NIV).

Paul wrote the Book of Romans as a letter to the church in Rome. He documented many amazing themes in this book, but one of the first practices he illustrates is “through Jesus Christ.” Paul realized as Job did so long ago that we need a mediator to approach a holy God (Job 9.33). There is absolutely no way in our own efforts, holiness or birthright that we have access to a perfect God. We can’t even give thanks to Him without a righteous intercessor. We are imperfect creatures, riddled with sin because of our own choices. But because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, we have been reconciled back to God through Christ. We are in Jesus and Jesus is in the Father; therefore, we are now in the Father through Christ and our sins and imperfections have been wiped clean. Our entire relationship with God is built on the Rock of Jesus Christ. We are lost, hopeless and separated with out Jesus’ intervention. For this reason, “through Jesus Christ,” is one of the most important themes we willever understand. Everything is possible through the awesome name of Jesus and nothing eternal is possible without it. All our actions, thoughts and words must be filtered through a profound awe of what Jesus Christ has done to save us and to bring us into relationship with the Father.
